Dermalogica Barrier Repair - Learn Why You Need To Use This Moisturiser

Barrier Repair as the name suggests repairs damage caused by environmental factors such as car fumes, cosmetics, anything that strips the skin, pollution, cold weather, etc. It's a waterless silicone rich moisturiser that repair the damage for sensitive skin.

You need to include this dermalogica moisturiser in your regular skin care routine if you suffer with redness, sensitivity, flakiness or itchiness.

Dermalogica Moisturiser Barrier Repair - Let's Examine It

Barrier Repair uses silicones in it's moisturiser. Silicones are organic, natural and derived from plants. Silicones are used in this moisturiser because they act as a barrier, prevent clogging to the skin. They also make the skin feel really smooth and silky, hydrate and reduce irritation.

To strengthen the barrier function dimethicone and cyclopentasiloxane are used. They are two silicones that are very similar that enhance the skin’s barrier. The barrier function of the skin is protected by the silicones as the melt between the skin’s cells. Protecting the skin, reducing moisture loss and preventing dehydration. Dehydration can cause sensitivity.

Silicones are very important because of the way they repair the skin, reducing dehydration and therefore sensitivity.

Barrier Repair contains anti-ozonate complex consisting of (fumeric acid, furmitory extract and lemon extract) infused with the silicones. I am amazed at the wonders of the ingredient Fumeric Acid. It actually protects the skin’s hylauronic acid, enzymes, vitamins and proteins from pollution.

Vitamin E can be reduced by as much as 25% in your skin by being exposed to ground level pollution with sunlight. This environmental pollution is toxic and destroys vitamin E in your skin’s cells.

Protect your skin, with topically applied Vitamin E and slow down the ageing process. It’s no wonder that Barrier Repair contains vitamin E. It’s great for smoothing the skin, protecting the barrier , providing deep hydration and antioxidant properties.

Vitamin C is also used because it is excellent at protecting the skin.
This moisturiser also uses Evening Primrose Oil and Shea Butter.

Shea Butter is great because it helps to protect your skin from dehydration and environmental conditions leaving your skin protected and Evening Primrose Oil is rich in linoleic acid, and helps to strengthen the barrier function of the skin.

Tightness, flakiness, Dry, scaly skin are all signs of dehydration. Pulling gently on your skin sometimes can cause tiny crinkles on the surface of the skin, even oily skin, this is known as dehydration.

Dermalogica use part of the chamomile plant called bisabolol an inflammatory ingredients that soothes, heals and calms irritated skin.

Will Barrier Repair Have Enough Hydration For Your Skin?

This moisturiser repairs the barrier function of the skin and restores the water balance of the skin. Severe dehydrated skins will need to use another moisturiser such as intensive moisture balance over the top of this product. Expect to wait at least three weeks to see improvement in your skin.

Skin smoothing cream moisturiser by Dermalogica is an excellent way to add extra hydration to your skin, when you find your skin on the drier side. After your skin has been repaired from using this moisturiser feel free to swap to a normal dermalogica moisturiser.

Occasionally I suffer with sensitivity on my neck. Using the dermalogica ultracalming sensitive range on my neck for two weeks repairs it and I switch back to my usual range.

Dermalogica’s Barrier Repair is an investment in your skin and works wonderfully. If you suffer with sensitive skin or have the occasional sensitivity I would recommend this product, its great.
